Pinus strobiformis 'Pendula'

Pinus strobiformis 'Pendula'

Known as the Chihuahua white pine, and is native to the southwestern US and to parts of Mexico. This high elevation pine grows at high elevations mixed with other conifers. The 'Pendula' form is a broom with tremendous character and will end up being a interesting sculptural element in your garden. The tree tends to have all branches going down, so staking up the main leader is recommended. When it gets to the height you like, then let it weep down. The bark is a pleasing light gray color contrasting well with the blue-green and white needles. We have some large old specimens in our gardens that are absolutely incredible!
