Picea abies 'Tompa'

Picea abies 'Tompa'

This relatively new selection of Norway spruce grows a bit more than 1 inch per year, so will be considered a dwarf rather than a miniature. It resembles the white spruce Picea glauca 'Alberta Globe', but with a different texture. A great plant for a small rock garden or trough garden. Found in Hungary by Miklos Barabits. The plant appears to be sturdy and with great color. In the spring all of the ends of the branches become bright and sparkly with the new growth coming out. Hardy to zone 4.
