Erica cinerea 'Velvet Night'

Erica cinerea 'Velvet Night'

An award-winning Scotch heath that is a dwarf evergreen shrub with dark-green foliage and deep blackish-purple flowers from late spring to early fall. This cultivar is the recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society for its outstanding qualities. Easy to grow, this heath will be happy in full sun in well drained sandy soils. Sensitive to drying out, so keep this one moist...lots of mulch helps it thrive. Excellent groundcover or for an accent along an edge. Grows well in containers as well. Hardy to zone 4, 'Velvet Night' will grow to 10" tall x 2 ft wide.
