Found and introduced by the Erwin Carstens Nursery in Germany, this little balsam fir is 'cute as a button'. Originally found on a specimen of Abies balsamea 'Nana', it is smaller and finer and has some interesting characteristics. The buds are a brown color and stand out, adding seasonal interest. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 12 inches tall and 16 inches wide, with an annual growth rate of 1 inch. I am sure that any conifer enthusiast would love to have one of these in their collection. Hardy to zone 3.
