Grosso

Grosso

Lavandula x intermedia, a hybrid between two species, is known as Lavender and this cultivar is known as ‘Grosso’, or sometimes called ‘Fat Spike’. The plant grows very full and fat to at least 3 ft x 3 ft over time. It is evergreen and in winter the foliage picks up tones of pink, violet and blue. This Mediterranean plant likes dry growing conditions, so is great for those wanting a drought tolerant plant. Over time it will be very round and dense, creating a wonderful scented flower show all summer, into the fall. One of the tallest Lavender varieties, 'Grosso' is also deer and rabbit resistant, grows easily in sandy or salty conditions. This cultivar can thrive in humid summer weather and in cold winters.
