Darwin's Barberry

Darwin's Barberry

Native to Chile and Argentina, Berberis darwinii is a fabulous species of Barberry that blooms in mid-winter.  The flowers are a bright yellow-orange color and are in masses that cover the branches.  Slow to get going but then it really grows fast into a large shrub 5-6 ft. tall and the same wide.  The foliage is dark green and shiny on branches with thorns.  Excellent for screening.
